Does North Korea have a citizenship test? How naturalisation works
Last reviewed: October 15, 2026 · Checked against the official source linked on this page.
North Korea’s citizenship law states that foreign citizens and stateless people may acquire citizenship by petition, and that such petitions are decided by the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly. Beyond this, very little reliable public information exists about residence, language or other requirements, and naturalisation appears to be extremely rare. We have not found any published citizenship knowledge test.
This set is a civics practice quiz, not an official exam. Because information is so limited, it sticks to stable facts about the country’s institutions, history, geography and symbols. Anyone with a real case should seek official guidance through the appropriate diplomatic channels.
