Last reviewed: October 15, 2026 · Checked against the official source linked on this page.
Under section 27 of the 1999 Constitution, a foreigner of full age who has lived in Nigeria for 15 years (continuously, or in total over a longer set period) can apply for citizenship by naturalisation. The applicant must be of good character, show a clear intention to live in Nigeria, be acceptable to the local community where they will live, be able to contribute to Nigeria’s advancement and take the Oath of Allegiance. Applications go through the Federal Ministry of Interior. We have not found a published written citizenship test, so this is a civics practice quiz, not an official exam.
This practice set covers Nigeria’s federal system and National Assembly, key events from amalgamation to independence and the civil war, and its geography, culture and national symbols. Always confirm the current rules with the Federal Ministry of Interior before you apply.
