Does Grenada have a citizenship test? How naturalisation works

Last reviewed: October 15, 2026 · Checked against the official source linked on this page.

Citizenship of Grenada can be acquired by birth, descent, registration (for example by spouses and some Commonwealth citizens) or naturalisation under the Grenada Citizenship Act. The naturalisation application asks about residence and any government service in the seven years before applying, and the Minister responsible for immigration also considers good character, the intention to live in Grenada and knowledge of English. Applicants need character referees, and approved applicants who are not Commonwealth citizens take an oath of allegiance. There is no published official citizenship knowledge test. Grenada also runs a separate citizenship by investment programme with its own rules.

This is a civics practice quiz, not an official exam. It covers Grenada’s parliamentary system, key events from colonial times to independence and the revolution, and the geography and symbols of the Spice Isle. Always confirm current requirements with the Government of Grenada before you apply.
