About the Danish Citizenship Test
Last reviewed: October 15, 2026 · Checked against the official source linked on this page.
In Denmark, citizenship by naturalisation is granted by law, when the Folketing passes a citizenship bill listing the applicants. One of the conditions is passing the official citizenship test (Indfødsretsprøven). It has 45 multiple-choice questions and lasts 45 minutes: 35 questions are based on the official study material, 5 are about current events in the Danish news, and 5 are about Danish values such as freedom of expression and equality. To pass you need at least 36 correct answers, including at least 4 of the 5 values questions.
This practice set covers questions like those in the study material: Danish government and law, history, and geography, culture and symbols. It cannot cover the current-affairs questions, so follow Danish news as well. Always confirm the current requirements and test dates with the Danish authorities before you apply.

Follow Danish news media in the months before the test, as 5 questions are about current affairs and cannot be studied from the material.
Think about Danish values such as freedom of expression, gender equality and the separation of religion and politics, because you must get 4 of 5 values questions right.
Check danskogproever.dk for registration deadlines, since the test is only held a few times a year.
